Martin Luther King day of volunteering January 18, 2016.

Tora Rocha, Sheriff of the Pollinator Posse and Supervisor for Oakland’s Public Works Agency, maintains the parks, and gardens among other things at Lake Merritt, deputized  300 volunteers to work in the pollinator garden on the day of volunteering in honor of Martin Luther King. This year she assigned 10 volunteers from Kaiser to the FLOWER POWER SOWING BEE to finish the seating in the hexagonal planters at the Rotary Nature Center while 20 other volunteers worked in the Bee garden. We got a lot done! And then, we were told there were four more sets of hexagonal planters that we could plant on the south side of the bird enclosure! Maybe some other day!

The volunteers from Kaiser really made a difference in this part of the park and were really fun to work with and hoping they will join us again.DSC04595
